This file will give the listener a set of post-hypnotic triggers, designed to freeze you in different ways.
The first trigger will lock your body in place, you'll be aware of what's going on, able to move your eyes and speak, but be otherwise unable to move.
The second trigger will allow someone else to bind a particular body part, leaving the rest of you free. (So you could find your butt stuck to your chair, your hands stuck together or your feet stuck to the floor)
The third trigger will freeze both your body *and* mind in place, leaving you to all intents and purposes a statue. No thinking, no speaking, and when you carry on moving again, you might not even be aware that any time passed.
In every case, you'll be free to move again, and be able to carry on moving when you hear the word "Release".
Be aware that all hypnosis is self hypnosis, and that although part of the mind can be put into a deep trance, even becoming unaware of your surroundings, a subconscious part of you will remain aware of what's happening at all times. This is a good thing, as it means you're not going to respond to the triggers when it's unsafe for you to do so!

That's entirely dependent on the listener. All hypnosis is all self-hypnosis, someone else might give you a guide, but it's up to you to follow that guide. As such, you should do whatever you find most relaxing. If it's focusing on a spiral, do that. If spiral focusing seems kinda cheesy, then yeah, just lie down with your eyes closed and listen.
im doing this, but when you say sleep, and snap your fingers, i kind of feel a sinking feeling, and my eyelids quiver and i twitch all over. then it kind of wears off and i feel like i could open my eyes and walk off..
If you want a hypnotic suggestion to last longer than a day then it can, it just takes practice and some repetition to keep suggestions lodged in your mind.
