  • Yes, using just the Mylar bags and oxygen packs will work however, by using the vacuum bags you remove more oxygen, placing an oxygen absorber in the package with the vacuum bags helps remove any residual oxygen remaining around the food. The Mylar bag helps keep the light out, once the Mylar bag is open it can safely be used again because the bag is clean. These are just added steps for increasing the shelf life and protecting our food to the best of our ability. Hope I have helped. Tammy

  • Hi. Where do you get the "oxygen packs"? Thanks...great videos

  • Hi rblain4780,

Honeyville has the best price on oxygen absorber that I have found 200/ 100 cc for 12.99 and if you type in D2store in the coupon section they will give you 5% off your entire order. The cannery sell them for .08 per 300 cc absorber. If you go to my web site and then enter the resource section a map will pop up. Click on the state you live in and all the canneries addresses will pop up for your area.

  • I have a video on my web site showing the canneries ( click on video section). My personal web site has many more video then you will find on you tube. Also,

while you are at the site register for our free 9 Tray Excalibur April 2010. Hope to see you there. Tammy

  • hi haansgruber,

Vacuum sealers will not vacuum pack mylar bags. However, @ dehydrate2store web site in the video section there is a video on how to vacuum seal mylar . Did you try pressing down on the sides of the sealer until you see the bag start to deflate. The pro 2300 is one of the best you can buy for high volume home use. Try pressing the sides and if the problem remains contact the company you purchased from. Hope I have helped. Tammy

  • Fantastic info! I was having trouble with my vacuumed dried food poking holes in each other. Everyone should be doing this. I'm a mom of 4 children and my husband was laid off in Jan. He is still unemployed but we are still feasting on last Summer's bounty of fruits and veggies! Money is tight but our table is full and there is always room for friends to stop buy and share a meal with us.

  • I really should go to bed but I just cant stop watching your shows!

  • Thank you so much for your series of videos, you put a lot of effort into them. I have had my dehydrator for years and mostly dried leafy greens, now i am encouraged to dry so much more. A few of the names you mentioned in an earlier video rang a bell in my memory. I grew up reading some of the La Rouche magazines. I have been big on freezing my produce but now I am going to dehydrate my produce instead, thank you so much for the videos

  • I have a new 9-tray Excalibur and I can't wait to get started. I need a vacuum sealer -- what kind do you use or recommend. Thanks.

  • Hi I've just started doing dehydrating/sealing. Thanks for the tips with mylar etc. Just wondering if you've had problems with reinflating that were not due to holes in the seal or bag. Especially with fruit?

    Thanks.

  • Thank you , i just got my first dehydrator ,can't wait to use it.

  • I think that this is a great idea. Buy food on sale then dehydrate for later use when food is very expensive. Thanks for all the great info! Just like everything else I'm sure practice makes perfect. Your dried food looks great.

  • I am still very happy with the information that you are giving us. Thank You.

  • then what if the water runs out?

    dehydrate water...... :D

  • If it has number 2 on it, you can use it for food. I'm just the opposite:)

  • Hi, I do not know if you are still responding, but I can't seem to find info on the temps needed to store all this food either in bags or jars. What temp do you keep your rooms for storing? Thanks

  • @brawin01 From what I understand seeds need air. Have you found out more? Thanks
