If you're looking for a job in PR or marketing the best way to improve your chances of finding a job is to be focused on that sector. The current climate means that more people are applying for jobs in a variety of sectors so there is much more competition. A targeted CV means that the recruiter will know that youre determined to work in this market and look more kindly on your applications.

When youre writing your CV make sure that it is mistake free (mistakes diminish your chances of getting an interview), shows that you have strong communication skills and make sure that it reflects the vacancy that you are applying to. A good idea to make sure you stand out is to include a personal profile at the top of your CV, which would be 4 or 5 lines about who you are, what you want and why you want it. Try to keep you CV simple, clear and concise, dont worry your creativity will come out in other ways.

With relation to PR and marketing jobs first round interviews will very much be a case of getting to know you and finding out if you will fit into the company, so make sure that youre relaxed, confident, outgoing, ask questions and know about the company and the industry.
