@RAFREEB What do you mean not really? It is oe of their Many characteristics. Just go to any book store/library and you will see that every book about breeds will say this. Why are you talking about Singapore? I have never mentiond singapore. Grooming depends on if you let their hair GROW of if you choose to CUT it. Theydont shed as other dogs do and their fore very kind against ppl who are allergic. Im not saying that they arnt smart , cuz they are! But they are known to be atubborn!

@OrogDeMalfur Good for you studying the breed. They aren't for amateurs due to the diligent grooming requirements but, if you are up for that and dedicated to it, you will never have a better more loving family dog. They love everyone! VERY sweet natured.

@CCConservatory Thumbs up! Except mine was a bobtail when I got her named "rumbleseat Winnie" And yes, we should not downplay the grooming. Most OES in rescue are there because some family didn't anticipate the time and effort it takes to groom an OES to prevent matting! It is a good three to four hours a week PLUS bathing days a couple to three times a year depending on messes made. And they drag in everything on their paws. I taught mine to wipe her own feet.

@thetubewithin haha so true. English Mastiffs, OES, even golden retrievers come from the British Isles. Then we have Irish Wolfhounds, almost ALL the other hounds..but, OES is my favorite of all time. ONLY get one if you like grooming though. I miss my girl and want another OES!

@FlyingVSnow No not really. They are very smart and they go through an adolescence like a teenager. During that one and a half to two years they have selective hearing but, they have been used as rescue dogs, therapy dogs and performance dogs as well as working on firefighter teams. They are very smart but, you just have to realize they WILL go through an adolescence. I think Singapore is too hot a climate for this dog breed AND the grooming is massive.
