"But if you have freedom from everything, then you don't really have anything anymore."
This made me think of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, which is crazy deep and mind-boggling but oh so good.

Why doesn't Edna succeed? What's her downfall? I personally like this book as well. But some things I didn't clearly understand. Edna seemed selfish. But she wanted her independence and freedom. But she loved Robert. So that kind of confused me. She don't want a husband but she wants a lover?

@latinagirly1 I would say that she actually does succeed. What she wants is freedom, and she certainly achieves that. She is selfish. And the advantage of having a lover instead of a husband is that her lover doesn't treat her like property, they're equals. Hope this answers your question!
