Cole Hardware is a family run hardware retailer that emphasizes social and environmental advocacy in our community. We have received numerous awards including the United Nations Environmental Service Award, Urban Solutions Neighborhood Business Award, and the Bay Guardians Best of the Bay. In becoming a Green Business, we: * Encourage the use of our reusable shopping bags, have a bring-your-own bag incentive and have discontinued the use of plastic bags. * Work in partnership with the City, to recycle for SF residents: rechargeable and household batteries, old latex paint, fluorescent and CFL bulbs and expired printer cartridges. * Promote environmentally friendly products that we sell and have created a logo so that consumers can easily identify these products on our store shelves. * Are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint through in-store recycling and composting, the use of low-mercury fluorescent lighting, earth-friendly cleaning supplies, refilled ink cartridges and paper product with a high percentage of recycled content.
