In today's Watch me Wednesday video, I talk about American Idol. I watched the season premiere last night, and like many of you I'm sure, I laughed, was moved, and even cried a little. (dont make fun of me). Most important, I talked about American Idol's characters and unfolding stories with my friends and family, online and offline. One reason for American Idol's incredible success is their ability to tell amazing stories stories which generate laughter, tears, and buzz. So what can you learn from American Idol? Even if your company doesn't have wanna-be superstars, you have employees, executives, and customers, all with great stories to tell. Share these stories. Better yet, get your customers to share their stories, about how they've experienced your product or service, how it's changed their lives, made them a little easier, or a little more fun, or a little better. Now that's social media. How do you tell stories now? How do you encourage your customers to share their story? And will the winner of this season's American Idol come from Boston?
