I have never really liked the nose target after the contacts and have always felt that I am not fast enough to have a dog with a running contact, so I figured that I would use a mat as a target. It is still a 2 on 2 off concept, the only difference is that I am having Bandit target a mat with his front paws instead of jamming his nose into the plastic target on the ground.

I have been working with the mat as a target for other behaviors, so I used a totally different textured spongy mat for Bandit's contacts. So far, I am liking that I changed and will continue to develop this method more.

I hope you all like it!

Have a great day!

  • its a shame but i can hardly hear this video

  • @ljbndjb I'm sorry, this was before I got my new camera and my mac computer. Some of my older videos were really hard to hear. However, my newer videos are much better! I have learned and gotten better at taking video and editing. Still not a pro, but getting better. :)

  • i agree w/ your opinions!!

  • @afi858 Thanks! Great minds think alike! :)

  • It's so great that you are showing people other options and letting them know to listen to their own instincts about what is right for their own dog. Too often we tend to feel intimidated by others who are helping us train, and forget this. A great teacher understands this and knows that there are many many different wayst to get to the same goal. You're an amazing teacher, Pamela!

  • @azmauigirl I know the feeling, I was one of those intimidated people when I got my first dog. Everyone was telling me what to do and how to train. I did not like the things they were telling me to do, so I went on a search for a better way. A nicer way to train dogs! So, I want to make sure I help others do what is right for their dog! Follow their instincts and trust in themselves. NOT just do it because someone says so. :) THANKS! TAKE CARE!!!

  • Great video! I'm working on 2 on 2 off right now. Do you have any tips for what to do if your dog wants to swing their back legs off the contact?

  • How big should the target mat be? My target mat now is as large as the dogwalk and 20 cm long.(is this may be to small?)

  • This is the same area that we will be having the seminar. Right now winter is over and the grass is starting to grow again. It should be nice by summer. I am looking forward to the seminar!

  • Buen trabajo de zonas Pam.

    Un saludo
