There are 24 inversions to a group of four different things.
example: abcd bacd cabd dabc etc...to dcba
Adding the scale tone between each inversion renders the chord scale.
Sandole indentified 12 string groups A-M with the joining scale tones in each voice and applied the permutation exercise to them rendering all possible chord scales...in 12 keys.
Nothing more important than triads and drop 2 for understanding harmony of the fretboard. It is also very functional...every form can be used as 12 or more other 7th chord type families, depends on whatever the bass player is playing.
The Berkeley voicings. Chord melody stumped me until I found these. I then did it for m7 and dominant. Boom. The sky opened up.
