These generators are GE 1.5mw. There are 87 of them in the Earl Park Indiana group. Thank you for viewing my video, my apologies for some moments of shaky camera and focus.

  • Now, the wind turbine field stretches for 45 miles from Southwest to the Northeast. There are a few hundred now with many more under construction. They are beginning projects across the state line in Illinois. The influx of jobs and effect on our local economy has been excellent.

  • Each one cost 1.5 million dollars for parts and for the process of putting it up. These are about medium size. Most wind turbines never reach their maximum power (1.5MW). On a good day they usually put out about 75% of that. It is actually 1.5MW/hours. Meaning (for arguments sake) if it was producing its max., then it would be producing 1,500,000 watts an hour.

  • I wonder how resistant they are to high winds

  • The manufacturers have designed the turbines to withstand hurricane conditions and winds up to 172 mph.

  • How many are there by now and roughly how much each cost?

Also are these the biggest ones or do they have them even larger

Also when u say 1.5mw? does this mean they output that when they are at 100% or does this 1.5mw mean over period of time?

    Thanks

    Greg

    Good Job.

  • We came across this by accident on a drive home to Maryland from Chicago. We couldn't believe how may there were. Really cool site and obviously good to see.

  • I just saw this as I was taking my daughter to college. It's the most awesome sight! I swear I felt energy as I drove through!!!!

  • I was raised in Earl Park. In the 60s kids would ride bikes around this section. One evening we were on this road heading eastbound towards the cemeteries. It was uphill so we started walking our bikes. We saw it at the same time & looked at each other with our mouths open; something that looked around 6 tall & white float across the road from the Catholic cemetery to the public cemetery. We got to the cemeteries & looked everywhere for something but never found anything.

  • Just saw this wind farm for the first time driving up I-65. It was very impressive. I wasn't aware that Indiana had a wind farm of this scale. I hope these kind of projects continue.

  • Thanks for the video - was impressed when I drove on I-65 and suddenly I saw all the windmills.

  • so did my brother-in-law

  • Do you know how much power these generate collectively?
