In all fairness he was not a traitor. He was naturalized German citizen. While much of his broadcasts were indeed infuriating, especially his anti-Semitism, given the nature of war, he mostly called for peace and in loo of the Eastern Front and the resulting Holocaust it might have been appropriate.

The Western Front was not a good thing boys... We handed half of Europe to Communism. We failed.

William Joyce was a naturalized German citizen, and thus could NOT have been a British traitor. Even if he knew about it, which I doubt, he had absolutely nothing to do with the actions of German authorities in operations now known as the Holocaust. His hanging by the British government after the end of World War II was, simply put, legalized murder.

@IrminC If you actually listen to his broadcasts you will also hear him gloat and name British cities that had been bombed. Threats that these cities would be bombed again. No he was a Nazi who was deputy to Mosley in the BUF in the 1930s in Britain.

I believe that he is now buried in a cemetary in Galway city!! Possibly his relatives asked for the return of his body from Wandswoth prison some time after the end of the war. I have no further information but would welcome any available.

@XxOokamiSamaxX Some people have different dates as to when the Holocaust began, some even put it in 33, the year Hitler took power. I was referring to the Final Solution.

@IrminC Actually the Einsatzgruppen started cleansing ethnic Jews as early as late October of 1941.

@ian198700 The Final Solution occurred after the battle of Stalingrad in 1943, near the wars end. It was completely preventable via peace and not war. 50 million other ppl died in WWII and the Soviets which we helped win the war killed far more people than just the Holocaust. Do not forget Eisenhower's death camps. When examining history try to keep perspective. You logic is the Holocaust was vindicated by the 50 million killed and the continuation of the same policy that caused the violence.
