What residents value most is the feeling of belonging and safety that comes from living with friendly, loving people that care and look out for each other. It's about ohana and the aloha spirit. It's about family and faith. The Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Draft Plan "envisions a safe and healthy environment based on strong family values, where residents have access to quality jobs, affordable housing and ample recreational opportunities within the region." These are the values that are most cherished by the people of Lā'ie and Ko'olau Loa and these are the values that are most jeopardized by the challenges facing the community. In fact, 72 percent of residents surveyed by Envision La'ie "see their quality of life decreasing for future generations." Envision La'ie represents a diverse group of residents and stakeholders of Laie, Kahuku, Hauula, and Ko'olau Loa who are working together to study La'ie and plan for its future possibilities.
