Some clips I took while backpacking in the Big South Fork in Tennessee of my dog Dakota (Blue Heeler) playing with my friends dog Varick (German Shepherd). They did this for about 30 minutes and it was hilarious. I didn't think to film it until they were almost tuckered out. Hopefully next time I will get some footage when they are at 100% energy level. Dakota is 11 weeks old.

  • Beautiful heeler! I have owned a couple of them (have one now)and believe they are the best dogs you can get. Very loyal, loving, good natured and very protective.

Are they very popular in the U.S.?

  • She is a good dog. Has a ton of energy.

They are not real popular over here, but I see one every now and then. They are more popular out in the rural areas, as they make good farm dogs.

german shepherd mix australian cattle dog

  • wow. i have what i think is a blue heeler aussie mix, and i named her Dakota :)

yet, she was born May 30th, and is about 4 months old. She plays with our two german shepherds, pudel pointer, and miniature pinscher. she tries to play with the cat, but that doesnt really work out.

  • Great Video! I'm just amazed at how some big dogs will be soooo tolerant of, and actively particpate with, a puppy or smaller adult dog playing with them and make no attempt to hurt them no matter how far the smaller one pushes it. Check out my video of Jack, who happens to be a Heeler mix, and our little Chihuahua mix, Foxy, playing. She does this to him every day and he simply will NOT hurt her. In fact, half the time he starts it.

  • I like the barrel roll that Dakota does at :08.
