  • Bunch of wannabees trying to social climb!- Property developers and their pony club kids, second home owners from London, antique dealers and dodgy horse dealers....NOTHING to do with the countryside......SUPPORT OUR FARMERS! [NOT these idiots!].

  • @Hellishhorse You'd better tell that directly to the Berkeleys. I just film things that happen in town. Personally I'd say they were inheritors of common land stolen from the people during the enclosures, but that would be a radically different view from yours..

  • hahaa, *zoom in on the boots with tape on them :)* looks like a whole lot of fun! i love hunting - it's great that the villiage come to watch, the riders must have felt like VIP's! i wonder what the parents tell their children... - "wake up! u wanna go see some ponies!!!' hahaa lol

  • @BethanHorseMad Thanks for your comments. I don't know anything about horses, but the tape struck me as odd. Thornbury is officially a town - it doesn't bother me, but some local people would be most upset by "village". :D

  • @mwingereza

lovely video really enjoyed it im heading out in a few weeks once my mare is fit from the break due to the snow

some people tape boots on as will all the galloping and jumping for hours they tend to slip

  • @immoralorchid Thanks for your comment and the explanation (about the tape). I wanted to film the Boxing Day 2010 meet differently, showing what happens away from the High Street, including the hounds and riders setting off on the trail. It didn't happen though, because the ground was too hard, so I was shivering in sub-zero temperatures to no avail - once more my ignorance of horses let me down! That video is on YouTube now.

  • WTF Land stolen during the enclosures??? Read a history book. Berkeley family been there since pre enclosures. Also one of the few families to put the land before profit and keep the area rural.

  • And landowners who host the Hunt ARE very, very rich!

  • @mig25pd - I've been around horses all of my life- own one- and ride regularly- I've worked in equine rescue and riding stables- and come from a farming background. O.K not ALL hunters are rich I will admit- However; Hunting IS a social activity-people like it to be known "they ride with" the hunt- as tho' they are better than others that don't [The Beaufort hunt being the most elite]- it is a way of rubbing noses with the upper classes- People AND horses DO get seriously hurt.

  • @Hellishhorse The only people I have known who hunt were ordinary folk who went out because they enjoyed the experience (and were competent enough not to cause themselves some mischief) - any body who hunts to social climb is probably going to be very frustrated and get seriously hurt.

I used to ride quite a lot - I don't think I ever knew another horseman who was in any way 'rich'.

  • @mwingereza ohh, sorry town! thanks for replying! yeahh, the tape can be dangerous, but as long as he isnt going through water or wet grass ect it should be fine!
