I'm from SoCal, there was something about Lynchburg, Charlottesville, and Petersburg that got to me. If I'm ever down in Virginia again, I'm definitely headed to those towns to pay a visit. I don't know about real-estate because I wasn't paying attention to it at the time, but the I liked the vibe.

This makes Lynchburg look like crap. There are nice spots, especially around the colleges and the counties.
Not sure why people love moving here though...

Holy hell why does everyone have to pin these towns/cities as always depressing? Throw on some Trance music or something for shit sakes. Lynchburg is an awesome town! They are so backwards from everyone else it makes it better.

I've just found a 1 bedroom apartment for £325 ($540). Cheapest in my town. Most are about $650 - $1100 for a 2 bedroom apartment. (per month)

Yes, it is nice. It's got a smaller city feel, but enough amenities. Roanoke is a little over an hour away. Charlottesville is also nice.
