This documentary includes rare color footage of the U.S. Marines in action in the Pacific during World War II. For years the world has watched films of World War II in black and white. Now for the first time, follow alongside those who experienced the war first hand in this remarkable and moving portrait revealing never-before-seen footage shot in full color. On December 7, 1941, Japan launched its attack on Pearl Harbor resulting in the United States being thrust full force into World War II -- turning it into a truly global conflict. American Marines and many of the great filmmakers of the day captured color footage of the events as they unfolded -- the Coral Sea in flames; Guadalcanal littered with corpses; rarely seen images of the deportation of U.S. citizens of Japanese descent and much more.

@RobertBiglio my comment was in reply to another person who said if the US hadn't entered WWII, Europe would be speaking German. It should seem obvious that the USSR played the largest role, wouldn't? I guess some people miss the obvious because of blinding nationalism.

@mtrtrm
Thank you captain obvious.

The USSR probably played the largest role in defeating Germany. Had Hitler focused on the West instead of dividing his armies... Well, things would've been a LOT bloodier for the Allies.

@waisehell
It was a vendetta, Hitler's vendetta but not only against France because of the Treaty of Versailles.
The failed communist revolution that ignited in Germany following its defeat after the WWI was lead by many -but not specifically- Germans citizens of Jewish origins; it is at this point that Hitler hatred and irrational blame of Jews for Germany's many calamities materialized and ended with the "Final Solution" during WWII.

@waisehell Germany only wanted to get revenge on France and did so, France dissapearead as a state in 1939; WWII WAS A VENDETTA ON A BIG SCALE :))

@Eurofighter19 the Allies encountered problems in mobilizing their armies due to the ideological differences; yes, G britain had to face the germans on two fronts and they did a great job...France, however had the badluck to host the Versailles treaty in the first world war which was one of the cause of the second world war due to germany's shameful defeat and the shameful conditions imposed by the versailles system;
