dental amalgam

And for those who say that we who have high levels of mercury and other toxic metals in our systems are ignorant about amalgams I beg to differ. I don't work with paint, haven't broken a thermometer, or been exposed to mercury any other way. I'm sure many people who have mercury poisoning aren't as severely impacted as people like me. The way our bodies detoxify heavy metals varies from person to person. I wish those people could walk a day in my shoes and see how debilitating this has been.

Mercury can cause, exacerbate, or seriously hinder the healing process of ANY physical/mental illness.
It is a "custom" poison - a spanner in the works of individual bodies and brains, often taking many years to manifest as illness.
What is frustrating is this quibbling about how much Hg actually represents a risk to health, conveniently avoiding the term NEUROTOXIN.
There are only 2 types of dentist:
Those who take chances with mercury (and their patients' health) and those who DON'T.

@navydds2012 Look-- I know you are a Dentist--- so was my Father and I was in the Navy--had my wisdom teeth taken out onboard the USS Midway. Denile is not just a river--- you need to seriously get updated on the facts of amalgam fillings and the leaking of mercury. Please watch this, I know this may shatter your world but you are poisoning people buy doing this: (youtube.com/watch?v=XU8nSn5Ez

I'm sorry, are you kidding! No evidence??? There is tons of evedence that mercury vapors come off the amalgam fillings. Look it up - here on Youtube! There are also scientific articles of studies that prove the release of mercury into the body constantly.
I think you need to UPDATE THIS VIDEO!!!!

I agree. Good reliable literature should only be considered. Most mercury exposure is from Hg vapor form coal plants, not dental amalgam. Even scaped amalgam from dental practices is just a minute drop in the bucket relative to other mercury sources.

They wont put mercury in a landfill but they'll happily put it in your mouth.

I think I need to make the analogy a little clearer (just in case). We get significant doses of UV radiation from the sun everyday. But we also get radiation from looking at our computer monitors, and to a lesser extent now, televisions. I guess you might say that the computer and televised media industries are conspiring to give us all cancer!! Well, you see the level of radiation is simply not significant enough to cause any real effect (I don't bathe myself in sunscreen before watching TV)
-
umm..i hope you understand, but brett is using scientific evidence to show how mercury release is negligible. Let me use an example. We are exposed to radiation every day; from the sun, from computers, perhaps even from cell phones. Radiation = bad!!! No one like radiation. Radiation cause cancer!! But does that mean I have to lock myself in my basement? No. Now: If the amount of mercury released has never been linked to any level of poisoning in 150 years, maybe its ok?

inexpensive my ass. 700 dollars for a root canal in los angeles baby!!!

Advocacy groups led by the Dominican Sisters of Hope, issued a resolution last week at the Danaher annual shareholders meeting in Washington DC, to petition the company, which owns Kerr, the largest manufacturer of mercury amalgam, to transition away from using the product. The vote was 16% in favor, an unbelievable result for a first-time shareholder vote.

I don't believe in hell after death (that's a 'religious' fear tactic for the brainwashed sheep who spew unprovable delusions) - a life sentence to a jail cell on earth would be a great start for these and other such criminals who cause death, disease, and destruction.
They deserve their hell on earth.
Power to the lovers of ALL humanity - a bullet for the rest.

Brilliant analogy - awesome comparison [08!
I agree that amalgam is going away, and sure, suing someone for doing what is accepted practice. There is something wrong with every restorative material we use. The fluoride issue is beginning to get interesting, but there is a lot left to discover. Keep reading!

Amalgam ingredients; Toxic
Amalgam in your mouth; "Safe"
Amalgam waste; Toxic
Can you spot the inconsistency...?

Sure, that was my point on the interview. Makes no sense, but the other side of the coin is that nobody can reproduce sickness with amalgam, nor show that this population of people with amalgams have more disease than these people who don't. Frustrating!

P.S. I am having them romoved by a dentist who "specializes" in safe removal. Wish me luck.

I am sorry you have had such a bad time. The real problem is that there is no real science to show how amalgams should be removed or if one particular technique is better than another, for the patient. A concern is that someone who is sick will be so desperate for "holistic" care that they will get their expectations up too high, and pay dearly for a "show".My main concern would be that the dentist use a rubber dam and high speed suction to reduce the amount of mercury you might be exposed to.

Nice comment. I guess it is great to be so smart you can make judgements totally based on your opinions, not any facts. It is a pretty interesting set of facts, but the truth is that there is a lot of controversy still, and good people on both sides of the question actually disagree.
