This is the most practical motorized vehicle running in the Philippines today, it has about 50cc displacement more or less, the same Briggs and Straton engine you will find in a Banca.
The beauty of this vehicle is it doesn't require any LTO permits, license or plates... you dont even need a drivers license to drive one.
You can hire one from quiapo to any point in Luzon... depending on the price if the driver agrees.
There are only 3 wheels, so there one less wheel to maintain!... it can seat about 10 people maximum. About 4 to 5 people average.
It can go as fast as 80 kph... much faster than a standard electric car or bike - even with load!...
It has no problem going through mud or flood, and it has an active passive anti car theft system intergrated with the design... It looks so bad - no car thief bother to look or consider taking it.
This design is a proof of concept of a form follows function philosophy. It is in fact, passenger centric, with the least priority with aesthetics.
With only P90. per day cost to operate, it will provide sustenance to a family of 5 or more to survive the daily cost of life in Manila.
With P90. per day cost to operate, you can afford to tour the whole Manila whole day!...
Airconditions and Stereo is optional, Air bag is replaced with sleeping pillows.
Keyless and Doorless entry is also state of the art!
The incognito appeal package comes as a bonus!
There are about hundreds to a thousand prototypes running around Quiapo, Manila for field testing.
A more commercial version is still being studied for feasibility.
But since this is public domain design, the proponents throw it in open source development... where everyone can design their own version.
Stay tuned for more of this vehicle. Coming soon at your nearest Brigs and Straton dealer...
I hope not!
Kidding aside, this is actually more popularly called "also" as the Kuliglig; in English "The Cicada or the Cricket". Kuliglig because of the noise it emits, just like crickets, but they call the same name for farm hand held tractors as well as other motorized contraptions with a similar engine. These engine are normally 2 stroke and hand pulled starters.
In my recent visit to an emission test center, they confirmed that there is not one 2 stroke engine that fails even if it emits too much smoke, simply because they are not covered by the particulate opacity criteria, they are only subjected to the invisible gas like CO and HC.
Why?... simply because the Philippines is only 1% contributory to world pollution and that a great majority of the social spectrum lies heavily on these type of engines for their livelihood, and therefore, it is going against Government policy to uphold the welfare of the masses.
Of course - something can be done about it.
It's just a matter of time.
magkano kaya ang makina ng kuliglig, dapat tinananong din ng intrviewer
