I just looked at specs of PLT device. Offers 200Mbps of data transfer. My DLINK Wireless router offers me 54Mbps on my pc and I still get the full 1000KB/s download speed offered by my ISP, with full encryption and security enabled, so what is the point? Just an easy way for the signal to get intercepted by the men in black I assume as all they need is a SW receiver. I just don't see any real use for a PLT that a wireless router can't offer.

What better way to deny access to free information and/or reception of signals we maybe shouldn't be listening to on SW than instead of making Jammers, just get the public to jam the signals locally with their own money. The BBC, and BT work hand in hand with the Government on a variety of projects and I hate all 3 of those organisations. I will support the UKQRM group in any way I can.

Seems to me its all a plan to push free radio communications away, for us people to pay for everything on this world :(
and on the side even fill our heads with all this "noise"

Just wanted to report that since the making of this video my neighbours have become good neighbours! but quite clearly another aspect of this crappy technology is bad neighbour relations!

I am very interested in this stuff. I must admit, I use Homeplug because I have no choice. I live in a rented house, and can't run cable, and WiFi just isn't an option.

Is it possible for the companies behind this technology to make them either less noisy, or use a different frequency band?

Yes it is possible, but all the time they can get away with selling this stuff they will. The best thing to do would be to complain you can't use your shortwave radio now and send this to trading standards as you will see the PLT will say it complies with EMC and other directives when it clearly does not.
Much more information can be had from our web site 'ukqrm' just google us :-)

i know they get away with this stuff because OFCOM just like customs only care about commercial stuff for example OFCOM WOULD do something about it if it was on FM or DAB band. also customs let through loads of stuff that they are not meant to like when i was in "a well Known Supermarket" every DVD player, Freeview Box and Satalite Tuner they had in stock was below standard to the point that it was not legal for sale in this country
