  • Yes and no. The whistle is currently part of the overall personality file for the locomotive (this may change in the future), As such, to change the whistle to one you like, you have to load the entire personality file containing that whistle. If the mechanical parameters don't match (the diameter of the drivers is key), your locomotive may no longer run properly and you'd have to put back the original file (which you save before you ever think about putting in a new file).

  • those are called 4-8-8-4

  • No. it wasn't. I hope you are being sarcastic. This is a 2-8-8-2. Big Boys are 4-8-8-4 i think.

  • that was a big boy!

  • toytrains1, is it possible to download a different whistle for your locomotive? I have an MTH Premier H9 Consolidation and was wondering if I could get this whistle for it.

  • Actually, the A and all the Y class locomotives had the same "one note hooter" whistle. The J's had the three note chime hamcock whistles, which the engineers could actually play. Very interesting to hear an experienced throttle master at the controls of a big J!

  • I personally like the whistle. It's one of my favorites.

  • lol. the class A and Y6B whistles are completely different.
