Police and protesers in Reykjavik - Iceland

After the peacful protest today in Reykjavik - against the govermnet and banks - people where told to go to the head police station in Reykjavik and demand the release of one prisoner.
The guy who hanged the Bonus flag on the Parliemnet building the protest a few saturdays ago.
He was arrested when he was on a university science trip .
He got known and the police arrested him.,
He had a fine or prison sentence on him since he as protesting the Karahnjukur damn project.
People attacke the police station tonight and broke windows and the front door.
Then they where peppersprayed and the police got the out - and stood outside in full riot gear .
People threw eggs at the police.
And a couple of hours later - the prisoner was let go .
A unknown man payed his fine - and told the guy in prison ,that if he would not accept that he payed the fine - then people would get hurt.
The guy accepted - and told people outside - that next - it would be revolution.

We Americans should take a lesson from the brave Icelanders for having the guts to stand up to their government like that !!! We desperately need that kind of intestinal fortitude to bring down the criminals that rule OUR country !!

How soon is that fight coming? Who do you see fighting whom? How will the opposing factions form? Who are they? Where is the cohesive community which people are willing to lose their freedom, or die, for?

It is not a matter of Intestinal Fortitude, it is a matter of ownership of the community and a strong social bond. We do not take ownership of our community, and we do not have strong social bonds. Too, we are still too comfortable with the status-que to mobilize on the street. Add to that, we tend to fight our battles on the net with words ... where it will do the least amount of good save for a temporary cathartic effect. We also accept that the criminals rule as part of the status-quo.

Bunch of people who think they can storm a police station without getting a dose of mase. Trying to free a guy who climbed to the roof of a building (our Parliament, Althingi) and raised a flag...apparently people think they can do that without at least getting interviewed by the police.

And frankly I despise these so called "protestors" who cover their faces like criminals while yelling out some demands, throwing bricks at the police and beating up a TV station crew.

they protesting for release of a guy who went on a building witha banner which told of bankers getting bonuses, finally after storming the police HQ they released him. shows that police and govt owned by banks.
