  • He's swimming a form-enhancing drill, morons; it isn't supposed to be done at Olympic-qualifying-time pace. The emphasis is on fluidness of motion and minimizing drag.

And stop posting your damn times. Nobody cares.

  • Bilateral breathing is good in practice though because it develops muscles evenly on both sides. In a race, just do whichever works best.

  • People, please be sensitive when adding comments. I am 99% sure that Michael Phelps reads just about every comment for every video of him on Youtube. He told me. Telepathically. While simultaneously winning a gold medal.

  • A good technique is fundamental in swimming freestyle, and of course when you practice technique you do it slowly. Nice video

  • @TheOrangelover101 acutally the 50 should be swam in 1 or 2 becuase the lack of air to your muscles will actually slow it down, being such a short race you need air to keep your muscles as strong as possible, weather you think you actually need to breath or not, and for the 100 thats way wrong lol, i breath every 4 strokes in a 100 which is WAY to much but you should still use a breathing pattern

  • @hello12345kk i don't even have a cat lol

  • @TheOrangelover101 MY DAD CAN SWIM FASTER THAN YOUR CAT

  • guys just so you know.... you should do a 50 front crawl with no breaths and a 100 front crawl with 3-4 breaths it is extremely hard but you can shave time off that way. But to the video he has great form!

  • @Ivygirl7508 i go a 28.67 on the 50 free and a 31.19 on the 50 fly and i'm an 11 year old girl so shut up

  • @hegsykes most swimmers have a tendency to break form when they breathe. Usually the head comes out of line and gets thrown to the side or upward which can cause the hips to sink as well. If your head position is exceptionally bad or, in phelps's case, exceptionally good to one side, it may be benificial to limit your breathing to one side only. if your coach thinks that you lose alot of speed during your breathing he may say to do three just so your take less breaths
