I've been doing no gi for 4 years and just started gi. I wish I started gi so much earlier. its a blast, makes you so much more technical, and most people wear clothes in self-defense situations.
I train a little BJJ/submission grappling on the side, but am considering taking it up full time. In your opinion, would gi or no gi be more suitable if I was aiming for self-defense? Most people say gi 100%.
that way is so much harder than it needs to be. All you need to do is control his left arm, shrimp out and drive your arm into the back side of his right knee. Then you pull him forward and kick your left leg while bringing the arm that you have hooked in his leg over your head and sweep. or vis versa right arm left leg.
Mmm im gonna open his gi kiss his chest and hey mr.man...

this is a unique method, I prefer the standard way, works for both gi and no gi (grabing behind the knee)

@richp860 Gi. It makes you way more aware and therefore technical. Plus, people wear clothes in the street and yes collar chokes work with t-shirts.
