  • Another great film from BL about the new SD1 and starring the affable Anton Rodgers.

Thanks for posting - I must see if the BL films are available on DVD

  • they are, thats how i got this footage!

    go to gaydon heritage centre

  • Hmmm, Well either one of us is wrong lol he he. There were two estate cars made LOE99 in Gaydon Museum and the other one which exists in the Haynes museum in Somerset. The reference book i have in front of me says that LOE99p was used for a while by Michael Edwards (chairman) and the other which is at Haynes was used by Prince charles for a while. The book i am using is the ROVER SD1 complete story by Karen Pender. Either way a super car and its a shame i am selling my baby.

  • If you check on the DVLA Website it says that SHP549R was taxed from 1977 - 1987 and LOE was only taxed from 76-77, thus SHP will be the car used by the chairman, having been taxed for ten years. More reason for this belied is that SHP is registered as "3500 SD AUTO ESTATE" whereas LOE is registered as "ROVER OTHER 4 DOOR SALOON"

  • These cars are great!, i have one restored for which i am now selling... a Rover Vitesse in targa red. great car amazing power and lovely to drive. by the way LOE99P is alive and well. A rare one sat at Gaydon Museum as one of the two Rover SD1 estates made. (this opne driven around by the at the time chairman of BL) . A super car!

  • Actually LOE99P wasnt used by chairman of BL, it was SHP549R. But i have seen LOE and it looked a good concept! seat in the boot too!

  • Video message: you can't pull birds unless you have a 3500. You can pull a pair of French policemen, however.

  • As well as the Stag.

  • Actually he drove the Range Rover in 'The Fourth Protocol' the Series 2 SD1 was driven by a colleague of the character played by Michael Caine. But you're right, he was one of the many TV/film personalities who chose the RIGHT car. In 'May to December' he drove the Mk1 800, a car that never got enough tv time in my opinion

  • Not only those films - the late Anton drove an SD1 in the sitcom "French Fields" (which like this was also filmed in France!)

  • BTW this is my other account

  • Plus i saw LOE99P at gaydon and its lights at the back are fakes

  • I still think the SD1 3500 was the best BL car
