It's not about suicide. he is leaving his loves desolate world behind for the unknown, the search for somebody new. the disaffected outcasts are parts of himself, embedded in her world. he had to regroup, to pull himself together in order to have the strength to leave.

I see it as though the character is calling on others... "his senses", and leaving the hope he has for what he thought was "his world"... which is being shadowed out with every step he takes away from it. Leaving it to itself.
