@linnieworld i dont know mine are to wild.. i let them fly in my room but they just go back to their cage ://

No affronts! I'm not the only who refuses wing clipping. Better you be patient with you birds, so that they can trust in you. Close all windows and doors, cover mirrors with a curtain or somethings else and train your budigies in flying. It will take some time, but it works! Your birds will be happier and healthier! Good luck!

@linnieworld dude r u stupid or what? i luv animals and i have 1 dog 3 fish and 2 budgies... im gonna clip their wings to tame them.. when u clip bird wings they come back and 3-4 weeks... its not animal abuse

Birds are meant to fly. Wing clipping is the result to live crippled. To take away their natural way of movement is animal abuse in the highest level.

@horsetuna yea but it wouldnt be nice to loose ability to walk? for bird, flying. I think is way too wrong, and evil to clip wings. birds has wings because they are ment to fly

I'm sorry but if you don't want birds to fly than you got the wrong pets.

@caseyxgoose It's not so bad. It doesn't hurt the budgie, and if they're not familiar with their surroundings, it's not a good idea to let them fly around as they can crash into things and hurt or kill themselves. Once they know their way around, most trainers let their feathers grow in.

@budgietails thanks for explaining that. I was wondering. That makes sense, so I'm not as upset anymore. :)
Its bettr than breaking one's neck flying into a window. Mine enjoy flight too, but because I have a cat, and even the oldest still doesnt know what 'glass' is, I still clip them. It also calms the boys down when its spring so they dont scream constantly.

@horsetuna I run into that same problem. When my hen, Laurel, gets scared her first instinct is fright-flight. She has run into glass and walls before. Trimming her wings is the safest thing for her, so she can't injure herself. Personally, I think that is the responsible thing to do if your bird needs it.

Why would you do that to this poor little animal? If I woke up one day to find that somebody had cut my Achilles tendon, I'd be incredibly dismayed.

@omgwtfazn I have had these two budgies for 4 years. When I first got them, I kept their wings clipped because they did not know their surroundings. Birds are susceptible to fright flights - where they fly at high speeds without attention to where they are going. They can die from impact into objects during this time. Once my birds got used to their environment, I let their wings grow out and they have fully enjoyed full flight in my home.
