A demonstration of just how well Vista can manage multi-tasking without glitching or problems, on a normal spec PC. The audio playing in the background is actual live audio recording during the same demonstration, the audio file is started in WMP as the demo starts and has not been overlaid or modified in any way - notice that it is completely hitch and stutter free even during multiple tasks running in the background, including the system pausing for UAC prompts, a Diskeeper defragmentation job, and of course FRAPS recording the whole thing the entire time.
Note: there is a minor glitch with FRAPS whenever the UAC Secure Desktop mode is executed - all you hear is the UAC popup sound, but don't see the UAC prompt; this is normal and a result of how the Secure Desktop Mode works in suspending certain background tasks while showing the UAC prompt.
The audio track played in the video is a free Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 Intro Remix available here:

Running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit with all updates (on a Vista/XP dual boot) and full Windows functionality, including using Aero and sidebar gadgets - it is not crippled or artificially stripped back. This is my standard setup for everyday PC usage, gaming, etc. and does not require any further modification to run any programs.
The system has been completely optimized using the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion: http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html

The point is that all the BS about how slow and laggy Vista is is proven to be plain old FUD. If you like XP better, keep XP. Actually you should ditch it because I heard you can do everything in Win98SE that you can do in XP and it takes up less RAM.

This was a great article, filled with undeniable facts that paint Vista in a fair light, without all the FUD that's going around.
Especially nice comparing the early reviews of XP.......this is the same crap going on again. People have short memories.
