Actually, Santi's punk band was called "Stiffed", out of Philadelphia.  They released 2 records.

She was not involved in "No New York" in any way.

The family is a vestige of the old, something you may have seen on TV in the 50s. The world has changed around them, and they're either unable or unwilling to accept it. They DO react to the shooting, but quickly go back to their old ways (much like our country in the face of national tragedy). Meanwhile the slower, less obvious problems (pollution, nuclear waste) continue in the background unabated. If we don't accept this changing world, our "house" will burn down before we're even aware.

Zombie family living like mindless drones, on repeat, not noticing the 'house is burning' or the decrepit living conditions they are in. The oldest member, supposed to the most wise and intellectually capable, is stuck watching tv to ignore the reality of her own existence.

Annoying to watch but addicting to listen to.
