Manufactured Landscapes

Eine Fabrik, die 20 Millionen Bügeleisen jährlich herstellt. Ein Damm so unermesslich gross, dass 13 Städte niedergerissen und über 1 Million Menschen umgesiedelt werden müssen. Eine Stadt, in der sich Wolkenkratzer erstrecken, wohin das Auge reicht. Dies sind Motive vor der Kamera des weltbekannten Fotografen Edward Burtynsky. MANUFACTURED LANDSCAPES begibt sich mit ihm auf die Reise durch China, verfolgt die massive industrielle Revolution dieses Landes und besucht Orte, die bei uns im Westen noch nie zuvor zu sehen waren.
Wie Burtynskys erstaunliche und irritierende Fotografie sinniert auch der Film über die Einflüsse des Menschen auf unseren Planeten, ohne je vereinfachende Lösungen oder Antworten zu liefern. Dabei fordert der Film unser eigenes Urteil heraus, verändert unsere Wahrnehmung der Welt und wie wir ihr begegnen.
