@RoniCMaster "Byzantine" is a misnomer, they were very much Romans and are considered as such by most historians, and their empire was the strongest at the time. Every conquest in history is more or less against a weakened opponent, rarely has anyone conquered a superpower at the height of its civilization. The Muslims armies also eventually defeated the Mongols in Ain Jalut, led by one of their most brutal Khans and gave them a run for their money...
-
@SudanDawah Yeah, defeated a token force after the bulk of the Mongols have retreated back to the Far East to attend to leadership succession following the death of Genghis Khan. If that dude had lived for another decade, things could have been very different.

~cont. Those you called 'Romans' were just protectorates of the Byzantine Empire, they weren't even Byzantines. The Roman Empire had already fallen to a succession of Western barbarians long before mohammad was even born. Similarly, the Persian empire was already decaying from the inside. All the islamic armies did was put the final nail on the coffin. When facing powerful nations though, such as the Mongolians, who's armies never reached more than 300,000 men, they were sorely defeated.
