Richard Dawkins doesn't believe in free will. In fact every materialistic worldview fails to account for free will! This is a serious problem for any intellectually honest atheist!

  • Preposterous allegation! I don't behave according to the laws of physics!

    *floats away into space*

  • @SwordOfTheSpiritUK "any questions see God's book on life, all pages." -

Would that be the Bible, the Torah, the Upanishad, the Rig Veda, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Qur'an, the Diamond Sutra, the Tattvarthasutra, The Tao-Te-Ching, the Book of Mormon, the Golden Bough or perhaps the Telephone Directory is the real Book of Life?... we're all in there!

  • I'd recommend Richard Carrier's book "Sense and Goodness without God" to understand the typical atheistic position on free will.

  • I was going to say this was a poorly forwarded argument, then suddenly wondered if it's deserving of even being called an 'argument'. You are attempting to disprove PROVEN Science, it's like trying to argue that 2+2 doesn't equal 4. You can observe neurons in the brain, that's how we think, your broad generalization of 'matter' is appalling reasoning. As for the end well I didn't even watch the end because I knew it wouldn't be worth watching,,,

  • As if religion supported, or even allowed, free thinking. "You are free to do as God a.k.a. we tell you.". Religion doesn't push forward freethinking, only thinking that pushes itself.

  • I am not a chunk of matter ! I am made from atoms.

  • And the word "just" should never come before the phrase "self replicating robot."

  • I'm sorry, but did we solve the whole "fate vs free will" thing already? Isn't there an ongoing debate encompassing genetics, sociology, etc? Even if I did believe in a God, my mind would still be chemicals, my DNA and surroundings would have the same impact on my decision making and beliefs. Not only does a god not solve the problem, the problem casts doubt on the existence of a soul. If my brain is damaged and I can't reason at all, does that mean my "soul" is damaged as well?

  • @tacoman069 Why, I see no problem with his sayings.

  • @Olliek94 but it does mean youre doomed before you even sinned...

  • Well made video! but so wrong.

Free will vs. determinism is an ongoing research, we just don't know if free will is an illusion or not, and it may be possible to have a creator god or free will and morality in a deterministic universe ('robot' brains CAN weigh evidence) or non-deterministic true randomness in a godless universe.

the 'god/no god' subject is not the same as the 'free will/determinism' discussion, answering the latter wouldn't answer the former. & we haven't proven free will
