http://www.andersonroe.com | Impression #1 from "STAR WARS FANTASY" composed and performed by the Anderson & Roe Piano Duo

Recorded live in concert at The Juilliard School

In composing our "Star Wars Fantasy: Four Impressions for Two Pianos," we took motives from John Williams' iconic score and constructed a brand new work. The first impression is based on the "Cantina Theme" heard in "Episode IV: A New Hope" from the Star Wars Films. If you are VERY perceptive, you may notice other themes hidden in the texture of the music as well (the Force Theme, Darth Vadar's theme, Yoda's theme, and various battle music motives).

  • Oh! Also! U must admit over all listening to it it doesn't sound much like cantina band, but if u actually listen and pull the parts out, you'll find that it almost always does in fact have cantina band playing under it all...

  • @harrythepiano lol!!! I know right?! Some people...

  • A final try against my better j. Every note of this is drawn from SW themes, I'm guessing you just can't hear it most of the time. There are witty references to jazz pianists & classical composers of which u r also prob unaware. It doesn't 'wander around', it's highly structured - in fact a fantasy exactly as it claims! Your eg says it all @ 1.15 two SW tunes obviously superimposed, @ 1.25 a neat key change via Bbm to get back to Cantina in F. Too smart for your limited understanding to handle!

  • @harrythepiano Let me give you a specific example. 1:15 is just beautiful, though it does wander a bit, and then around 1:25 the whole thing is just completely ruined.

Now lets create a movie equal version of this song for the sake of analogy. In this movie, everyone has split personalities and have constant mood swings. Character development falls apart, and the randomness of the plot will eventually disinterest the viewer until finally the end leaves him feeling confused&robbd

  • @111BLACKLIGHTNING111 You are fantastic! Morale high ground - is that the sequel to call of duty?! The thing is - I can to some extent back up why I think this is brilliant. Being a pro pianist earning a living playing on TV and radio, with a music degree & experience as an expert witness in several court cases doesn't make me infallible or superior to anybody else, but my opinion is more likely to be objective, than the neanderthal 'this is shit'. And I can spell :-) That's my lot.

  • Yeah this equipment is worth more than the equip of a full rock band ^^

  • @harrythepiano "There is no point debating with somebody like this - they are so polarised and assured of their own rightness [etc]"

Exactly: Thats the perfect description of you.

"'Pounding random notes' & 'dumbasses' are childish mud-slinging tactics, not arguments."

Not really. Im just a bit frustrated as to why your essentially "calling shit gold" to gain some sort of morale high ground above everyone else.

Calling this music brilliance is like saying scribbles=art.

  • What now? *cough* Play the same damn song.
