I highly recommend a fast horse or Sun Wukong and any characters that can clear crowds quickly as there is a 6 minute limit for Taigong Wang/Taikoubou to bust open the central doors.

Note that he NEEDS around 1 - 2 minutes to even do anything once he's in front of them. 9_9

Due to this silliness, it's imperative that you clear all enemies along Taikoubou's path (re: enemies near and north of YOUR starting point) so he can get to his destination with minimal delay. Him getting there with over 56 minutes left seems to work well because then he has those 2 "extra" minutes to work his magic.

The sorcerors (one east and one west) that appear must also be defeated. I'm unsure if Sima Yi is included but I took him out anyway. (You can defeat him before the sorcerors appear though.)

Afterwards, it looks like you must get rid of both Da Ji/Dakki and Himiko before the item appears.

It seems to be a general consesus among players that any verbal dialogue coming out of Da Ji, Zuo Ci, or Taikoubou's mouths seem to hinder things (e.g. it doesn't look like Taikoubou will move from his starting point until he finishes babbling) so whenever they start yapping, hit the Start button and let the voice acting run.
