This is Part 2 of Dr. Phil Plait's lecture at the Gnomedex 9.0 conference in Seattle in August 2009. He talks about whether or not the existence of Santa Claus can be denied to a child, the most skeptical show on television, 'Mythbusters', and the importance of critical thinking to other aspects of life.
After earning his doctorate in astronomy at the University of Virginia, Dr. Plait worked as a NASA contractor at the Goddard Space Flight Center, working with the Hubble Space Telescope. He began a career in public outreach and education with the 'Bad Astronomy' website and blog, debunking bad science and popular misconceptions. The book Bad Astronomy was released in 2002, to be followed in 2008 by Death From The Skies! For more info, visit: http://samaralectures.com/pplait.html
