Its not depriving them of any freedom...both my Greys are captive bred and have never known how to fly. I keep their wings clipped at all times. And its not permantent, they do grow back. We (my wife and I) take our Greys out side all the time but would not even think of doing so without clipping them. Putting a leash on a leg is a good way of breaking the birds leg....now thats cruel.

She lets a dog lick the cockatoo.. I shouldn't have to tell you what septicemia is, and just how fatal it can be to a bird.. It's a slow death.

Some bird owners clip their birds wings a little, so they can't fly as far, if at all.
We do it to our birds because one time one flew away. Saw him the next morning in a tree 7 blocks away, just.. singing. xD

cheeky bugger. lol. My bird use to watch the flinstones with us everytime it came on, as soon as the credits started he was off again. Birds are so awsome.
