New to The Colony? Watch how the Colonists build back:
http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/colony-building-their-way-back/?smid=YTDSC-YT...

What would you do in the wake of a global catastrophe? How would you find food? Water? Shelter?

The Colony is a controlled experiment to see exactly what it would take to survive and rebuild under these circumstances. For 10 weeks, a group of 10 volunteers, whose backgrounds and expertise represent a cross-section of modern society, are isolated in an urban environment outside Los Angeles and tasked with creating a livable society.

With no electricity from the grid, no running water and no communication with the outside world, all the volunteers have to work with are their skills and whatever tools and supplies they can scavenge from their surroundings.

Experts from the fields of homeland security, engineering and psychology have helped design the world of The Colony to reflect elements from both real-life disasters and models of what the future could look like after a global viral outbreak.

Over the course of the 10-week experiment, the Colonists must work together to build the necessities of survival, such as a water-filtration system, a battery bank that powered their electricity, a solar cooker, a shower system and a greenhouse and even some niceties (a coffee maker!).

Tune in Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT to see who thrives and who fails to survive.

  • @DoubleAssClown Yes the actors know they will be eating lobster at 12 noon as the craft services truck comes rolling by and chef Jaque prepares his specialty, these washed up actors who could not get a real acting job on a real movie set get some steady work, while reading papers on Jobs.com for a better paying job. They not only know its an "experiment" the fucking show is fake and stupid and has no fucking point.

  • @KaiserWilhelmIV They know its an experiment dumbass.

  • hey what was this edited with? AMAZING VIDEO!

  • So watching people 'fake it' and the same people acting like they are in an apocalypse makes for a show? Why even have a show like this? Why not just say "hey this is a survival ripoff show because we are too pathetic to invent something innovative" This pretending to be surviving when after the shoot they get all you can eat cheeseburgers is a total waste of time. To make it more interesting they should have them eating at shakeys pizza buffet after each episode to make a mockery of this farce.

  • @KaiserWilhelmIV The people in the the show know it is fake. They know they'l; be rescued if they starve. They know they are not allowed to kill outsiders or be killed. All the same, it is a survival challenge.

  • @Heromedic18 be an oh shit situation right there

  • The worst show on TV. How the hell can idiots be so stupid as to not bother looking at the cameras, traveling past the stupid fake sets, or resort to killing each other or committing violence if they really figured it was real. I am really sure these idiots didn't have to sign a fucking waver in case they broke a leg. They know that crap is a TV show, because if they didn't it would be like kidnapping and once the show ended the producers would be sued. If it was real they would all be dead 100%
