  • OMG!!!! SPARKY. my name is Tim Rutkowsky! I am one of Josh Migues"s friends. I had a couple lessons with you. It is soo nice to see you on YOU TUBE! You just made me want to pick up the ol dusty horn out the case. Im in Baton Rouge right now. When I get a chance it would be great to see you again. Hope you remember me. Gods Blessings!

  • Hi Tim, yes I remember you. Have you graduated from Southern U. in Baton Rouge? So gave up the playing huh? Well trumpet is a beast and one definately need to keep with it get any where with it. Josh is still in COM Jazz Combo & Ensemble. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well. sk

  • Thanks for the nice comments. I have been doing this for awhile and as an educator I do work hard at my improvisations. I am always working to improve my solos thought by listening to all the greats and learning from their solos. Improvisation is a great way to express ones self though their instrument. I believe that is prt of what people hear in my solos. I might not be the most technical but I believe I say something with my improvisations. Again thanks for the nice comments. Sparky

  • WEll A Train is quite a common tune for jazz players do you know someone with a Fake Book I would think it will be in there. If you play Bb tenor and the music is in Concert Pitch you have to play every thing up a whole step. If you play Alto you have to read it up a 6th. I know your young and might not know how to to that. You can use your ear to learn it. That is the way it was done for many years.

    Good Luck Sparky

  • Hey that was awesome!! One of my favorite songs! It also inspired me to try playing it on my sax =)

  • Eric,

Glad you enjoyed the tune, It is a great classic and one that all jazzers should be familiar with. You can go to any jam session and call that one up and the rhythm sections will not mind. Hope you have luck playing it on the sax. Sparky

  • Wow. Very inspiring for an 8th grader. I will be shooting for our high band at the high school next year and of course, the jazz band.

  • Bravo! i truly like your improvisation.

  • Really nice, and I liked your "now's the Time" too. Dude, where did you come from? I never heard of you, but you are as good as any trumpet player out there now. Your playing is really good, pro stuff.

  • I'm a vocalist. I'm so lifting your licks! *wink* Thanks for sharing this great music.
