Part 2 on a tutorial where I show you how to install Linux Mint 7 in Virtualbox.

Note: Linux Mint 8 came out right after I made this video. I use it and its very stable, just like Linux Mint 7. Most of the things I show in this video will be the same in version 8 as they were in version 7.

  • How to install linux outside of virtual box with iso file n without burnig it.?

  • @rahulpawar88 Well you can force the .iso onto a flash drive (requires software), then boot into the flash drive like you would a live CD, and then install it from there, if you want to. I've never done it, but other people have. Here's a video on it. I believe this is the correct utility to use

Note: You might need to format the USB before using it with this. Check the instructions.

  • Dude! Thanks for the great videos. I just installed Linux Mint 9 on my son's new PC, and he loves it. I wanted to install it on my portable, alongside Win 7, but was a bit dubious about adding new partitions & dual-booting. But this is perfect. Can't wait to try it. It was really nice of you to go to the trouble to do all this for us. Cheers, z.

  • @zeppy13131 Glad I could help! And yes, I know what you mean about dual-booting. I've thought about doing it a few times in the past, but with my small hard drive space, and lack of a Vista install CD, I decided against it. But with a powerful machine, this can be just as good. Glad your liking it!

  • How did you get compiz and effects to work? I can't get them to work even with 3d accelerator turned on

  • Well make sure you've given it enough video memory and RAM. Other than that, what I need to know is, is it actually changing to the advanced affects under settings or is it staying on none?

Sometimes you need to install some separate libraries under the software installer to get the compiz effects to work. This is the case with Ubuntu, but I think Linux Mint comes with them installed.

PM me with more information and I'll try to help you out.
