The Golden Purse. This video was recorded circa 1993 by friends Cody & Russell aka Charterstone. They met when working together at Musicland in the Rushmore Mall, Rapid City, SD. The titular Golden Purse was a handbag owned by Karlin and often-mocked.
• The video actually starts off with a short film called "Fork/Spoon" staring Cody, Tom Shaw, Chris Anderson and Lance Larson. Filmed in a downtown apartment building, it was meant to portray the classic battle of good & evil, black & white, fork & spoon.
• The Golden Purse portion starts off with Russell listening at the door, but was filmed a year later.
• Whilst filming, we ran into Bryan Pawles aka Brian Paules, who injected some inspired nose-picking.
• Note Diane Schell as "Woman Washing Dishes Wearing Earmuffs, Tube Top and Scarf"
• The climax of the scooter sequence mysteriously went missing! The scripted climax was to see Cody scootering past Dave Neubert's house (manager of Musicland). Somehow this got erased, and we were crushed.
• The computer scenes were filmed in the offices of KTEQ 91.3 fm Alternative Radio, located in the Old Gym Building on the campus of SDSM&T.
• We thought the internet was pretty neat at that time, in particular, Tel-net and ISCA. ISCA is/was a BBS operated by the University of Iowa. Totally text based, we remember getting in the que to log in to ISCA. "You are number 57 in the que."
