The people who are criticizing this are displaying their ignorance. He is trying to show something; your job is to figure out what that is and what it has to do with Aikido. A hint: this is only demonstrating attacks with momentum. And the ukes know how to fall; if you attacked this hard and he threw you and you weren't so good, you might break your neck.
There is harmony between uke and nage. He has a solid grounding in all the traditional waza, otherwise he couldn't do this. The uke is attacking i momentum. If uke attacked in a slower, more stable way he wouldn't be able to do this sort of technique- maybe he would begin with an atemi to get the uke moving.

i think this video is a great demonstration on the students fantastic ability to fall. their ability makes the teacher look like a supreme fighter, alas anyone who has been doing martial arts for a long time can see that they are puppets for his display
@micsir888 I agree. Takeda san does have his favourite uke that spins like a thrown cat which looks flashy. It would be good if they showed a truly martial aspect for a few tecniques at least. I have practiced Aikido for many years now. I respect my Sensei's atemi and move my head to protect myself and this moves my body as if being struck so the flow begins, if I don't move I will be hit and I will appologise for not moving.
I do Aikido for 2 years and this is so far of what is Aikido, is true that you use the force from the opponent, but you need fisical contact to do it.
This is a form of Aikido, this is not Aikido, the only sensei that can do the techniques that use Takeda is Morihei Ueshiba, the creator of Aikido.
Lol the only one who is painting themselves into a corner is you. 2 sessions of it in college. I've taken a handful of akido classes and have lived with someone who has done akido for more then 2 decades for my entire life and is currently a black belt. If you think 2 sessions qualifies you to judge what skills Akido possess you are blind beyond belief a long with watching more akido classes then I count.
