Congratulations to Dr. MacKay for telling the public what most Ophthalmogists only tell to their own family members. Dr. MacKay tells her patients that LASIK is "a terrible idea and don't go near it."

  • 140 people out of 700,000 a year. How is this news. Elvis died taking a dump so are we not supposed to shit.

  • @JeezusHCrow First, Elvis died of a heart attack. He just happened to be in the bathroom and not some other place. Second, the 140 figure is a red herring number put out there to make people think that LASIK is safe. The number of people damaged by LASIK is A LOT more and the FDA knows this. Even the former FDA regulator who originally approved LASIK says that the staggeringly high LASIK complication rates are being withheld from the public. Google Morris Waxler to find out more.

  • LASIK is first and foremost a business. Doctors who perform the surgeries are all multi-millionaires.

Why would you let someone mess with your eye like that is beyond me. There is no logical reason to have it. It's like paying someone $5k to chop off your little toe.

  • I`ve done lasik in year 2000 and i still have perfect vision, never pain or dry eyes, and not regretting it even for one second. Of course your nigtvision is gonna be less good, but everything comes with an price and the risk of complications..life is a gamble..

  • Great Video!! Designer Optical 305.400.4434

  • is it just lasik or lasek also?

  • @CambotSOL thats good for you, hope that you have perfect eyesight now! i spent a pretty hefty sum on my recent intralase surgery too, but ultimately it was worth it. Guess we both feel that our eyes are priceless to us!

  • @artsyspot69 You hit the nail on the head. Like any important procedure to a sensitive part of the body...you are going to get what you pay for. I had to spend $4,900 on my procedure a month ago, but it was w/ a surgeon that my own eye doctor had used and who has peformed 25,000 procedures over his career.

  • COntact lenses is bad too. I wear contact lenses for 5 years and the doctor warned me to stop. Now im stuck with glasses..Btw, Im look good in glasses. Thank God for creating mesuitable with glasses

  • Some people have severe permanent problems such as painful dry eyes day and night, hazy vision, halos around lights, etc... which often can't be corrected with glasses effectively. The trauma to the cornea raises the risk of corneal infections later which can lead to loss of eye. I stick with glasses.

  • As long as you have a truly skilled eye surgeon, things have an extremely high probability to turn out fine. e Ultimately every surgery has its own risks. Moral of the story? Dont skim on surgery if you plan on going for one. Make sure you get the best available. After all, health is one thing we should never compromise.
