The Palo Verde and Southwestern Railroad is an incredible outdoor layout designed to incorporate the realism of the Southern Pacific line as it ran through California and Arizona during the 40's, 50's and 60's. Our trains run through mountains and forests, around lakes and over streams, as they operate on 4,000 feet of track. Here is a collage of some of the trains that transverse these lines.

  • How much has been invested into this project to date?

  • bubblejomay,

    A LOT!!

  • HI.

I love to watch your videos I think that your layout is awesome. I was wondering if you had any problems with running a SD70 or any other USA trains engine with a Dash 9. My GP38-2's sometimes run with my Dash 9's and they constantly fight with each other. Is this between those particular engines or is that with all Aristocraft and USA engines when hooked up to each other. I want to buy a SD70MAC to run with my Dash 9's but I don't want to have to put up with problems.

    Thanks.

  • 437kenworth, An SD70 Mac will not run very well at all with an Aristo Dash 9. The gearing is different on each of them. They will fight with each other just like your GP38 does.

  • So, these are all battery powered or was that just the train in the first video?

  • MrDaylight844, these trains are all track powered. Most of the trains in the later videos are all battery powered.

    Thanks,

    Dennis Sirrine

  • ive never been into trains and such but this is absolutely amazing i mean wow! i love the layout its beautiful it's just soo amazing :) you my friend have got a new subscriber :D

  • Nice video, but more closeups, please...

  • Hi Dennis,

I was wondering if you had any problem with running long trains with light cars on the front like the hoppers or double stack container cars. When I pull heavy trains my container cars tip over. Is only running 12 foot diameter curve is what is causing the problem? If you could respond that would be great.

    Thanks,

    437kenworth

  • Are all of your engines powered, or do you have some that are dummies?
