Birmingham, UK 2nd October 2010 - Up to 300 men and women protested against Pervez Musharraf outside a rally in Birmingham that was organised to launch his political comeback.
Protesters smacked photos of Musharraf with shoes, prompting the former dictator to raise an offensive 'V' sign at them as he arrived.
The protesters held banners and placards and chanted slogans saying: "Musharraf and Zardari: Both Slaves of America" ; "Dr Aafia: Sold by Musharraf and abandoned by Zardari" ; 'Pakistan needs Khilafat" ; and others calling for the replacement of the democracy and dictatorship which had caused so much misery in Pakistan for over 60 years, with an Islamic Khilafat government.
Speakers who addressed the rally in Urdu and English included Dr Imran Waheed, Rizwan Hussein and Dr Abdul Wahid from Hizb ut-Tahrir, as well community figures such as Mushtaq Raja and Imam Qaisar. They reminded the protestors that they had not forgotten Musharraf's crimes of supporting America and Britain's invasion of Afghanistan, the kidnapping of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her children, the bombardment of innocent people in Waziristan, the betrayal of Kashmir, and opening Pakistan for the return of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari. They also called unanimously for a Khilafat system that would end western colonial enslavement of Pakistan, bring a just and accountable government and end the cycle of dictatorship and democracy that has plagued Pakistan.
Inside the jalsa, two respected local community figures with Hizb ut-Tahrir vocally accounted Musharraf for his killing of Muslims and selling of Dr Aafia, and were silenced by their removal from the building by Musharraf's lackies.
The protest ended without event peacefully after duas asking for Allah's Help to remove the corrupt and tyrant rulers like Zardari, Musharraf and Nawaz Sharif.
@lewisbell Well it depends on your basis of where religion came from. For us Islam is from our Creator who knows us better than we know ourselves and He knows our needs... therefore we accept what He says.

I think you'll find that it is a problem, in Iraq hundereds of people are going to be executed because they are homosexual, this is why religion and politics shouldn't mix.

@lewisbell Ofcourse, and for hundreds of years when Islam was being implemented non muslims were living under Islam, that has never been a problem.

@farah1987 People who do not follow Islam live in Pakistan also

@lewisbell Presumably this 'oppressive dogma' you refer to is Islam? Who is to say that its implementation will lead to oppression.

China and India is not built by superman. Its built by their very own people, who went to West, got the knowledge and returned back. Pakistanis, especially the ones who are speaking so loud, should go back and build their country. Do you have the courage to do that? Or you are only good enough to hold rallies and protest in streets of Birmingham!
Nobody is doubting your intentions. But your ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN YOUR WORDS!

It is only Pakistanis who can ask or protest against Pakistani leaders. Not so called Pakistanis, who live and enjoy in Britain, moan about its weather and then when they have absolutely nothing to watch on their TELE, they devise a plan to protest against Pakistani leaders.
If you really have 1 iota of dignity in you, go and live in Pakistan. Try to change the conditions their by contributing in Pakistan, not by supplying hate fodder against Pakistan in media and everywhere.

@farah1987
Absolutely NOT YOUR DUTY TO ACCOUNT THEM. First revoke your British Passports. Revoke and reject all privileges, go back to Pakistan. Suffer all the inhumane conditions people are suffering through and then I want you to come and protest against, the ones you will see as tyrants then in Pakistan.
Right now, your only duty is to serve Queen! PERIOD!
