Video demonstrating recent advances in improving the robustness of the self-reconfiguration process in the ATRON robot. Also demonstrates the reversibility feature of our high-level programming language, where a reverse self-reconfiguration sequence can be automatically generated from the forwards one.

  • "Eight" refers to the initial shape of the first self-reconfiguration, look at it again, it's sort of like an eight :-) All 7 modules are actively collaborating and communicating to transform the shape of the "eight-shaped robot" into a car. At the end you can see the purpose of the "eight" shape, it's easy to transform into a "snake" shape that has more obvious advantages in terms of locomotion. The movements are btw modules pulling each other around in the structure. /Ulrik

  • i think the caveman figured out how to use a wheel faster... j/k truely remarkable ideas here

  • cool, where can you get the ATRON robots?

  • I think, I get the general idea behind this and it´s interesting. But I don´t really get, what it´s doing.

I can´t figure which parts are inactive or turned off and I don´t understand the movements it does.

"Eight to car": Does it try to form a car from eight components? Is it successful with that?
