What causes epilepsy? Does everyone with seizures have epilepsy? How do I know if I'd had a seizure? Is it contagious? Genetic? While approximately 1 in 100 have epilepsy, there remain many myths and misunderstandings about what it is ... and what's it's not.

Well-known neurologist Dr. Kenneth Laxer leverages his experience to sift through the stories and evidence and help separate the myths from the facts. This is the second of two parts.

Dr. Laxer is Medical Director of the Epilepsy Program at CPMC in San Francisco and a board member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California.

  • Thank you for this information. I was recently dx, but my neuro gave me almost no info on this.
