not an amsing job at all there was never rust in the area he washed and dried off next time use the heavey rust area then say preety good job.

You could try electrolisys in a tank it works very well in antique coins and reliefed areas

how well would this work on pitted rusted area. I'm working on removing a heavily rusted area and I don't want to keep sanding to bare metal. Would this be something of an alternative to keep sanding?
