Why didn't you ask why her boss, Pres. Obama, opposes single-payer healthcare? A clear majority of Americans support single payer. Isn't this a democracy?

Look, single-payer healthcare would be cheaper and provide better care to more people.

Private insurance has something like 30+% overhead. Medicare and Medicaid have something like 1% overhead.

Canada has single-payer healthcare, and provides superior care for much less money.

Most -large- businesses pay practically -no- taxes.

Basically every other developed country does this just fine, and those horror stories you hear are basically just distortions, and exceptions.

Really?

Healthcare that doesn't cost anyone anything. You are delusional. Healthcare obviously has costs. Maybe you aren't being held personally liable for those costs being met for your own healthcare. Believe me, someone is paying for your healthcare.

Oh that's right, UK. What is the overall tax rate now, about 40% of income? No thanx. I can keep myself healthy and thus reduce personal healthcare costs. I'd rather not subsidize your healthcare when your unwilling to do same.

We can't have the same system because everyone ( in particular the GOPers ) would start crying SOCIALISM and too much govt. in our lives. What they don't understand is that Medicare is SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.

Hey guys lets tax small business owners to pay even more than they have to so we can pay for people to be healthy even though they wont have jobs because the small business owners wont be able to pay for another employee. Oh its ok we can put everyone behind a register in wal-mart and McDonalds.

in the UK we don't need health insurance coz we've got our NHS which provides free healthcare for all UK citizens...it's run by the British Government because the British care about their own people - aint you just jealous!
