Greatest.
Live.
Album.
Ever.
That is all.

The one thing I don't like about this documentary, is that bassist Roger Glover is never specificly mentioned. Like most bass players, he's sadly overlooked.

If I could have only one Purple record for the rest of my life it would be Made In Japan.

Someone needs to change the title on this. Yes it's stating that it is not "Made In Japan" So change the title if you can. But I can live with it , even some can't.

The bearded guy at 3:39 suggests that it was drugs that allowed them to play with such energy towards the end of the show. This is one of several line-ups of Purple that didn't use drugs, it wasn't until Glenn Hughes and Tommy Bolin that drugs came into play with (and ultimately destroyed) the band. That interviewee (the bearded guy) has some good thoughts and input, but he seems to regard the band as just another 70s group, and they're too unique for that.

Love the "Made in Japan" album ,but my favorite live version of "Space Truckin" was on "Deep purple in concert" - the album released in 1980 .

@zisoul Early FM radio played them all the time.

What song is blackmore playing or in what song and when was that improvise at 1:21
-
.44 is from Mandrake Root. Good part of Mandrake root jam was later used in Space...truckin

@charlessavarese Agreed. Glover's bass lines often largely provided the heaviness to the DP sound as much as the Hammond did. Bass playing is always the most underrated but integral part of most music...especially rock.

@dario3444able actually it's an instrumental section that was first known from the song Mandrake Root, and then was a standard part of the extended part of Space Truckin' Live - which continued through Mk III - they had a notable version on the California Jam where Richie attacked a TV cameraman. The guy pissed him off because all through the show the cameraman was getting between Richie and the audience. Instead of bashing only his guitar, he smashed the TV camera.

this concert is out of this world
It should be clearly noted in this doco, that this is "NOT" LIVE FOOTAGE FROM the MADE IN JAPAN album. The tour of Japan in 1972 was never filmed, it was only recorded. It's totally misleading for those who know nothing about the band and if I were a member of Purple I'd be suing their lying asses for this obvious attempt at making a quick buck.

@yellingelk you write right... but the label of DVD is "Deep Purple's Made in Japan". and the all songs are from the LP MIJ...isn't totally misleading Ciao
