Following the opening day victory over QPR (Kevin Keegan's debut), Newcastle had only one more win to show in the 6 games that followed.

In the day's when Match of The Day rarely popped into Division 2, new signing Terry McDermott, in a 2nd spell at the club, inspired a remarkable attacking performance enhanced by 'a day to remember for' Keegan and Newcastle's noisy 5,000 followers.
