  • Hi Groutaone, Re: pistons- don't u think its surprising that in the 21st century we're still using 18th century ideas & making a piece of Ali or steel travel in 1 direction at high speed for a few cm & then forcing it to change, using up energy in the process? Wankel got it right. Also, you mentioned the "play" in a cold piston- seem to recall that its near impossible to turn over a cold F1 engine (they rev to around 14,000rpm) by hand as the metal needs to expand to make the tolerances correct?

  • @Rockinghorseshart Not sure on the F1 engines, I wouldnt be surprised if they spin 18000 rpm

  • I was wearing earplugs and I shit my pants at 2:52 but that's okay. I LOVE YOUR VIDEO! :D

Respect from the land of KFC!! :)

  • @Rockinghorseshart have heard they pump race temp coolant thru an f1 engine to warm it b4 its fired up.dunno if its right, but the theory is sound.good vid.

  • reminds me of when i asked a Structural Engineer if i should wear in a motor like i stole it (as some people would suggest) or do the gradual rpm build up with cool down stages (recommended by a performance engine builder), he explained about the grains in metal and about tempering, long story short i'll never do the "ride/drive it like you stole it" procedure and will never recommend it to anyone.

  • @groutaone Thank YOU for the lesson there. That was awesome.

  • Drums and Chevys Gotta love it!
